This weekend, some of our members took on the challenge of climbing to the summit of Smutwood Peak in Kananaskis, Alberta. After a 10 km trek and a 1 km altitude gain, these researchers reached the view you see here.

Today the group went on the soaking wet trek to get some ice cream before our summer interns finish and head back to classes.

Our group went on an adventure to climb through the beautiful landscapes in Kananaskis, Alberta. The hike landed us at the base of Edworthy Falls, and some of us even took the polar plunge! Starring our special guest, Shiru the dog.

This weekend, Tina, Kin, and Jessica competed into Hot Laps River Relay, running a combined 11km!

It is time for Edgar, our visiting undergraduate student from the University of Glasgow, to head home and continue his studies! We wish him the best as he finishes his MSci (Undergraduate Master's)!

A big congratulations to our two Winter 2026 graduates Julia and Atlas! Julia has collected her MSc in Chemistry and Atlas has collected his BSc in Chemistry, each after putting in hard work advancing research on disinfectant byproducts. The lab wishes them the best as they move forward in their careers!

During March, the group participated in a chemistry graduate student scavenger hunt for St. Patrick's Day and won the first place prize!

Kimura-hara group won the hottest chili and best veg chili award in Chili competition.
